ROE DEER THAT HADN'T BEEN HUNT

ON THE MORNING OF THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS 2013 THERE WAS A HUNT AT THE LAKE BIRVA (TRAKAI DISTRICT). CHASED ROE DEER FELL INTO THE FROZEN LAKE, BROKE THE ICE TILL THE MIDDLE, CUT ITSELF AND DIED.

THAT IS WHERE I FOUND HER.

TWO WEEKS LATER, ICE MELTED AND WIND PUSHED THE BODY FROM SHORE TO SHORE. THERE WERE DAYS MY DOG COULD ALMOST REACH HER.

FINALLY THE LAKE GAVE THE ROE DEER BACK TO THE FOREST WHERE SHE WAS TORN BY BEASTS. WHITE BONES LAID ON THE MOUNTAINSIDE. LEFT SHOULDER AND FEW RIBS.

THE SERVICES I CALLED PROMISED TO COME AND TAKE THE ROE DEER OUT OF THE WATER. THEY ASKED THE NAME OF THE LAKE.

THE GARDEN I NEVER SAW

THERE ARE 5 ARES OF LAND. FENCED.
EXCAVATED MULTIPLE TIMES AND DIRECTIONS, SOME AREAS 100 METERS IN DEPTH. EVERY PIECE OF SAND REPLACED, SUNK OR REVEALED.
IN BETWEEN THE PIECES OF THE DEMOLISHED BUILDING THE NEW/OLD GRASS EMERGES. STRANGE FLOWERS APPROACH ME. THE ONES I NEVER PLANTED. THEY TELL THE STORY OF THE GARDEN I NEVER SAW.

PIT HOLE

OCTOBER 25TH. 2015. ARCHAEOLOGIST ARUNAS STRAZDAS FROM CULTURAL HERITAGE CENTRE EXECUTING THE REQUEST NUMBER (9.63.)2-2258 FROM DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
UNDER THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE (LITHUANIA) WRITES ABOUT THE OBJECT AS THE ANSWER TO THE CITIZEN RUTA SPELSKYTE:

"THERE IS A NATURAL PIT HOLE. OBLONG WNW - ESE DIRECTION WITH QUITE SLOPING EDGES. ONLY THE SW EDGE BOTTOM PART IS MORE STEEP. BACK EDGES I.E. WNW AND ESE ARE LOWER AND ARE 6 - 8 METERS HIGH, SIDE EDGES ARE 11 - 16 METERS HIGH. THERE IS A WET 20X10 METERS PLACE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PIT (WILD BOARS PAY A VISIT EVERY NOW AND THEN). THE EDGES OF THE PIT ARE SLIGHTLY ERODED, ESPECIALLY STEEPER SW EDGE. THE PIT IS SURROUNDED BY FOREST - MAINLY PINES AND SOME BIRCHES AND ASPS. THERE IS A TRIANGLE TRENCH AT THE TOP OF ESE EDGE 20 METERS LONG IN NW-SE DIRECTION AND 10 METERS WIDE AT THE NW END. THERE IS A SMALL STONES PILE 2 METERS IN DIAMETER AT ITS SE EDGE. THE PIT USED TO BE A MARSH. STONES WERE THROWN TO THIS PLACE BECAUSE IT WASN'T CULTIVATED. THERE ARE SIGNS OF PATCH LAND OWNERSHIP AT E AND S EDGES AND SOUTH AT THE TOP OF THE NOTICED TERRASE. THERE ARE 3 FURROWS WITH PATCHES OF 12 METERS WIDE IN BETWEEN THEM AT THE EAST EDGE. ONE FORMED FURROW IS ABOUT 1-1,2 METERS HIGH. FURROWS ARE ORIENTATED ALMOST NORTH-SOUTH DIRECTION. THE LOWEST FURROW DESCENDS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PIT AND IS ELEVATED ONLY ONE METER ABOVE ITS GROUND. THERE ARE TWO FURROWS AT THE SOUTH EDGE AND AT THE CONTIGUOUS HILL. ONE IS 25 METERS OTHER IS 17 METERS WIDE. ONE OF THE FORMED FURROWS IS ALMOST 2 METERS HIGH. THE ENDS OF THESE FURROWS TOUCH THE PIT. AT THE END OF THE FURROWS THERE IS A TERRASE - THE END OF THE FIELD. THIS MARKS MORE STEEP EDGE OF THE PIT. THE BOTTOM EDGE PROBABLY WASN'T CULTIVATED."

WILD BOAR

2 AM. MY DOG AND I ARE STANDING IN THE STREET. THERE IS A HUNTER IN THE NEXT GARDEN LOT. HE SITS WITH HIS GUN RESTED ON A WOODEN THUMB STICK. TOMORROW OUR NEIGHBOROUGH IS GOING TO TELL US ABOUT THE LITTLE WILD BOAR CUBS ROLLING ON THE ESFALT JUST IN FRONT OF US. FEW WEEKS LATER THE OTHER NEIGHBOROUGH IS GOING TO SHOW US THE SIZE OF GROWN CUBS IN BETWEEN HER PALMS. MY DOG BARKS INTO THE PITCH BLACK NIGHT, THERE IS A MOTHER WILD BOAR DIGGING OUR NEIGHBOROUGH'S GARDEN BEHING THE BUSHES.

PICKLED FERN LEAVES. ANGELICA ARCHANGELICA SUCCADES. HE POURS SEEDS OF THE RAREST MEADOW PLANTS OF LITHUANIA TO MY HANDS AS HE SPEAKS AND LEADS THE WAY AND TURNS AGAIN WITH YET ANOTHER APPLE OF ANOTHER SPECIES, GIVES IT TO MY SON BAZIL, PICKS BEETLES FROM MY HANDS. LAURYNAS AND I ARE ALMOST RUNNING AFTER HIM. BEAUTIFUL SILENE LITUANICA HAS LEFT US THREE BLOSSOMS. LILIUM MARTAGON (I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR IT FOR THREE YEARS) HAS A LONG STEM AND EDIBLE BULB, BUT WE NEED NOT TELL THAT TO ANYBODY. I'M REACHING FOR A SECOND PRUNUS PADUS BERRY. IT SEEMS THAT MY TIME IN THE BOTANICAL GARDENS AND ORANGERIES HAS SUDENLY ENDED HERE IN THIS CHAOTICALLY ENTANGLED MEADOW OF HENRIKAS GUDAVIČIUS, THERE ARE MORE MIRACLES HERE THAT I COULD HAVE THOUGHT OF. WILD BOAR HAS RECENTLY DUG UP HERE. WE GET TO SMELL THE PLANT THE ROOTS HE WAS LOOKING FOR.

GARDEN FOREST 2

THE EARTH, THEY SAY, MAKES THE ROCKS MOVE UPWARDS.

THE NOSE OF A BISON SMELLS LIKE LINDEN.

RŪTA FROM THE GALLERY XX FED THE CYCLOPS WITH SMALL LEAVES OF GRASS AND LEFT THE GLASSES OPEN EVERY EVENING. ARE THEY GOING TO SURVIVE ANOTHER TWO WEEKS IN THE STRANGE LIGHT WITHOUT THEIR LAKE?

I TAKE SOME BLACK MUD NEAR THE MAGNIFICENT FLEURS DE LIS IN THE FOREST. BISONS LIFT THEIR HEADS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE. THE EXHIBITION IN PANEVĖŽYS AT THE TIME TREE LEAVES WERE STILL UNFOLDED MADE ME SEE HUGE LINE OF STONES IN THE FOREST. YOU CAN HARDLY STEP IN THIS JUNGLE IN SUMMER.

GROUP OF FALLOW DEERS SLOWLY MOVES AWAY FROM ME TO THE THICKET. I AM SEARCHING FOR MY CAMERA. I COULD STILL ZOOM THEM BACK A BIT.

I TAKE THE BLACK MUD FOR THE TRANSFERING OF THE EXHIBITION. 131 KILOMETER SOUTHEAST. VILNIUS 2016

CLOSED ECOSYSTEM. TEST NO. 1. 2016 APRIL

THERE ARE DAYS YOU WANT TO CONTROL EVERYTHING.

A FEW SECONDS AFTER FINALLY SEALING THE ECOSYSTEM, IT BECAME CLEAR TO ME THAT THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH WATER INSIDE. "I MUST UNSEAL IT AND LEAVE IT FOR ANOTHER COUPLE DAYS TO EVAPORATE"

A FEWS DAYS AFTER SEALING SOME LEAVES TURNED YELLOW, WHITE, FELL DOWN, STARTED TO GROW MOULDY. "I MUST DISMANTLE THE HOUSE, TEST FAILED, TOO MUCH WATER"

"I MUST CATCH ALL THE INSECTS THAT I DIDN'T NOTICE BEFORE, THEY ARE GOING TO DIE THERE, I'M GOING TO VENTILATE THE HUMIDITY AT THE SAME TIME, SOME NEW SEEDS IN, MUST TAKE SUCCULENT LEAVES OUT, THEY ARE DEAD ALREADY, BETTER PUT SOME STACHYS PALUSTRIS IN.

I STARTED CARRYING THE GLASS HOUSE FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER. NIGHT OUTSIDE, DAY IN THE SHADE, THEN THE OPPOSITE...THE GLASS BECAME MISTY, I COULDN'T SEE THROUGH. "I MUST FIDDLE A BIT, NO, BETTER TO SHAKE A LITTLE, MIST WILL RUN DOWN THE GLASS WALLS"
